My First Mets Post!

So here I am, probably one of the biggest Met fans you will ever meet. I am sure there are fans that are a little more fanatic than I am, but after you read some of the stories, you will realize that I am in the top 10% of true blue and orange fans.
How did I become a Mets fan? Well, I think it was just inevitable. I was born on a Friday in September of 1962. The very same year the Mets were born! As a matter of fact, the Mets won that day, which was a rare feat that first year!
And where was I born? Flushing Hospital! Hmmmm....according to my parents, the stadium was under construction and you could see it from the hospital window.
My first real clear memories of my life is watching the 1969 World Series in school. The nuns put the game on in the classroom and we watched part of the game. I remember it so clearly. Hey, this was Flushing, and the whole town was into it, except maybe my older brother, who is a Yankee fan!
I think everyone in NYC knew where they were and what they were doing when the Mets won the '69 World Series! Although, I was too young to remember much, other than it was something everyone was excited about..
I still remember my first game at Shea Stadium. I will be referring to it as SHEA from now on. How could I have had a better first game. It was Tom Seaver's one hitter. I didn't understand then what that really meant back then. The whole experience was so intense that the game was only a part of the evening. First, to go out with my dad and brother at night was an event in itself. The mere size of the stadium was intimidating to say the least. The beautiful green grass. I don't believe I ever saw grass that color before! The smells of hot dogs, pretzels, spilled beer filled the air that even to this day, gives me a high and brings back so many memories. To hear the vendors in person, shouting, "Beer here, get your beer here", after years of laughing at it when we heard it on the radio was really cool! Actually now that I think of it, with a New York accent, its "Beea, get ya beea heea!"
Going to a baseball game has always been and will always be a wonderful experience for me.
I'll be back for more later, folks. For now, have a good day and Lets Go Mets!
